You can fill short-term prescriptions — for up to a 30-day supply of medication — at a retail pharmacy. Remember, you save when you use participating pharmacies (those belonging to the Express Scripts network). You can find a participating retail pharmacy near you by visiting

Mail-order service for long-term prescriptions

If you use medication on an ongoing basis (such as those used to treat high blood pressure and high cholesterol), you can order up to a 90-day supply and have it delivered right to your home with the mail-order service at Using this will frequently save you money, too!

What will you pay for your medication?

There is no deductible to meet for prescription drugs. You pay a percentage of your covered medication’s cost — called coinsurance. The amount generally depends on the type of medication used to fill your prescription. In fact, the most you will pay out-of-pocket for your covered prescriptions is $2,000 (if you have individual coverage), or $4,000 (if you have family coverage)!

Compare costs with the Price-a-Medication Tool.

Using the Price-a-Medication Tool, you can enter or select a drug name and get information such as:

  • Brand and generic alternatives
  • Estimated cost
  • Whether or not the drug is covered under the plan
